SECURE THE FUTURE®: Seven Steps to Involve the Community in HIV/AIDS Treatment Support Programs (First Edition)” is a step-by-step guide for integrating community mobilization and support services with medical care for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in resource limited settings. This comprehensive manual is based on the experiences and lessons learned from a three-year, five-site demonstration project coordinated by the Bristol-Myers Squibb SECURE THE FUTURE program in partnership with governments, health departments, PLWHA and civil society organizations in Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Swaziland and Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.

The manual describes in seven steps how to involve the community in HIV/AIDS treatment support programs and provides field-tested tools and resources to help communities adapt and implement the model of care as well as monitor and evaluate its impact. It also includes numerous real-life anecdotes and five full case studies from the communities that implemented the model. To request a CD or additional information on the manual or provide feedback, please contact surie.reddy@bms.com.
